An invitation is extended to all eligible figure skaters to participate in the 2019 Super Series Thunder Bay Open. Skate Canada rules and regulations will apply throughout the competition unless otherwise specified.

REGISTRATION: Registration for this event is an online submission and must be completed in full, including payment. Registrants must also acknowledge and agree to all policies listed in the cart for the entry to be finalized. Please have the following ready before registering:

Please note that if you select “no” for News, Upcoming Program and Registration Information in the Message List on your Uplifter Registration account, you will not receive general emails from Skate Ontario about the event. These emails may include links to the competition entry lists, start orders and results as well as important athlete updates.

CLOSING DATE: Access to online registration will cease at 11:59 pm EST on January 13, 2019. Registrations will be accepted on a first come - first serve basis with restrictions in certain categories to accommodate the scheduling of categories. Please review your entry information before submitting.

CONFIRMATION EMAILS: An email copy of each registration invoice will be automatically generated and sent to the account holder at the email address on the registrant’s profile.

NEW! COACHES’ CONFIRMATION EMAILS: Coaches will receive an email confirming their athlete’s registration information if the correct email is provided at registration. It is the responsibility of the registrant to ensure the accuracy of the coach(es) email.

ATHLETE ACCREDITATION: All athletes participating in Super Series events will receive a Skate Ontario Athlete Accreditation Tag at their first Super Series competition. Athletes are required to retain this tag and show/wear at all subsequent Super Series events including the Skate Ontario Provincial Championships in Mississauga, March 7- 10, 2019.

There is no charge for the first tag but there is a $25 replacement fee for lost or forgotten tags. This replacement fee must be paid at the competition, prior to competing

CATEGORIES: Starting Orders shall be determined by a random draw in each category. For event requirements and specifications, please refer to the 2018-2019 Skate Canada Technical Handbook (Skate Canada Rulebook).

The following categories are to be held at the 2019 Skate Ontario Super Series – Thunder Bay Open competition:

PRE-JUVENILE

Women/Men Must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Free Skate test or higher.

Women/Men (U11) Shall be under the age of 11 before July 1, 2018

Women/Men (U13) Shall be under the age of 13 before July 1, 2018

JUVENILE

Women/Men Must have passed the complete Junior Bronze Free Skate test or higher.

Women/Men (U12) Shall be under the age of 12 before July 1, 2018

Women/Men (U14) Shall be under the age of 14 before July 1, 2018

SINGLES FREE SKATING:

STAR 1 Girls/Boys No age requirement

STAR 2 & 3 Girls/Boys No age requirement

STAR 4 & 5 Women/Men (U10) Shall be under the age of 10 before July 1, 2018

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Registration is finalized only when all information and payment is complete. Your receipt of payment is your registration confirmation. Please print your receipt and retain for your records. LATE

ENTRIES: Entries received after the closing date will be considered by the Technical Representative for registration. Late entries are subject to a $100.00 late fee. No late entries will be considered after start orders are posted (2 weeks before event start).

REFUNDS: Full refunds will be given for any cancelled categories.

MEDICAL REFUNDS: Medical refunds will be granted at 50% of registration fees until the commencement of the competition on March 2, 2019. All medical requests must be sent to Michelle Hunsley at mhunsley@skateontario.org. This request MUST be received before the first skate of the day on March 2, 2019 and MUST be accompanied by a signed medical physician’s (MD) note. Notes from non-medical care providers such as physiotherapists, chiropractors or athletic therapists are NOT acceptable.

WITHDRAWALS PRIOR TO REGISTRATION CLOSE: If an entry is withdrawn prior to January13, 2019, a refund (less an administrative fee of $35.00) will be granted. There will be no refunds other than medical after this date.

RESTRICTIONS: In the case of a very large entry in any category, the entries will be drawn into groups. Athletes cannot register in two categories of the same discipline. For example: registering both in Juvenile Free Skate and STAR 6 will not be allowed. Athletes may register for one free skate and STAR 7 or STAR 9.

AGE REQUIREMENTS: As on July 1, 2018.

TEST REQUIREMENT: As on November 15, 2018

ON-SITE REGISTRATION: All competitors and Skate Canada registered coaches are required to register upon arrival at the arena. Registration and music registration will commence one hour prior to the first category of the day. Each competitor will receive an accreditation tag that must be retained and used as a pass for the duration of the competition. All skaters MUST have their music and planned program content sheet when registering. Coaches must provide proof that they are a registered Skate Canada Professional Coach in Good Standing.

COACH ACCREDITATION: To be accredited at the 2019 Skate Ontario Super Series Thunder Bay Open coaches must be Primary STARSkate trained or certified. Ontario coaches must present their Skate Ontario issued Coach’s Accreditation Tag. No other form of identification will be accepted. Out of province coaches must provide proof at that they are a Registered Skate Canada Professional Coach in Good Standing when registering at the Coaches’ sign in table. Up to two certified coaches per entry will be accredited

AWARDS: Medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded for each category. Medal presentation information will be available at the competition.
